Your Daily Vote for Ancient Future Makes a Difference

About.Com World Music Reader's Choice Award

Finally there is an award that seems tailor-made for Ancient Future: the About.com World Music Trailblazer Award! To quote About.com, "This award is the second of our two artist's awards, intended for a band or artist who is breaking new territory in the realm of world music. That could mean an artist combining ancient instruments with modern recording techniques, a band who fuses multiple genres of ethnic music into something completely new, a pair of artists who've made a cross-cultural CD together, or any number of other things." Ancient Future has been doing all of these things for over three decades!

We feel very honored to have made the finals due to votes from readers at About.com. The final part of the selection process is a social networking contest. This has not been a strong area for Ancient Future, and we now need your help to improve our social networking program.

First of all, please vote for Ancient Future daily through March 21 at:

Thoughts About My Wrist Injury Benefit Concert

Video of Mariah Parker talking about Matthew Montfort's benefit concert

Deep Thanks to Mariah Parker for Organizing the Benefit, to Alex de Grassi, Paul McCandless, Jon Mendle, Mariah Parker's Indo Latin Jazz Ensemble, Teja Gerken, and Ronnie Ray Padilla for Performing, and to All Who Attended or Donated

The benefit concert that the amazing Mariah Parker put together to fund my recovery from a wrist injury was a deeply moving experience. The music was brilliant, and it was very powerful to feel so much support from the musical community. There was a nearly full house, as well as a silent auction with generous donations from Amazing Grace Music, Muffin Mania, Fairfax Scoop, Jane Bell, Steve Johnson, Bea Benjamin, Jeff Helwig, Eva Mautner, Nico Eichlseder, Sally Chang, Cynthia Wolf, Victoria Moore, Denise Aubin, Heidi Keller, and Saskia Achilles. Bruce Victor of Acoustic Vortex set the tone in his inimitable way as the MC, and Dr. Behzad read a beautiful poem he wrote for me. Thanks so much to everyone, this gift is deeply appreciated.

For those who would like to help cover some more of the expenses until I can perform a full schedule again, wrist injury recovery donations are also accepted online at ancient-future.com where supporters can help by purchasing CDs and books, signing up for music lessons in person or via Skype, or becoming a subscriber to the Archive of Future Ancient Recordings, which is a crowd funded project to produce the next Ancient Future release.
