- fRoots Magazine. Covers the folk roots of world music. In May 2001, they initiated
a boycott of American popular culture as a small counterbalance
to American cultural hegemony worldwide. After September 11, 2001,
they expressed their hope that the sharing of cultural experiences
would be a route to reconciliation and understanding in the USA.
But with the Bush Administration's rush to war and visa restrictions
on world musicians entering the USA, the boycott has gained in
popularity. However, fRoots continues to support small American
regional roots musics. They believe it's possible to be anti-American
without being anti-Americans.
